Carers Manchester
Carers Manchester is a group of organisations, working together to provide support and improve services for Manchester’s unpaid carers. If you’re a carer, you’re not alone – there are an estimated 38,000 carers in Manchester!
A carer is someone of any age who supports a relative, partner or friend. They are not paid, but may receive benefits. A carer does not always live with the person they care for, or care for them full time.
The person they care for may need help due to physical or mental illness, disability, frailty or addiction. They could not manage without their carer’s support.
You might not think of yourself as a carer, but just as someone’s partner, parent, son, daughter or friend. Identifying as a carer can help you access support, advice and guidance.
The Carers Manchester Contact Point is the first point of contact for carers in the Manchester City Council area who want support or advice.
The Contact Point can help you with…
- Carers Assessments
- Welfare and benefits advice
- Your rights as a carer
- Finding respite and activities
