Celebrating Nicola Welsh’s Queen’s Nurse Recognition

Celebrating Nicola Welsh’s Queen’s Nurse Recognition

We’re delighted to share that Nicola Welsh, an education development practitioner in the South Locality, has been awarded the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse (QN) by The Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI).

This title reflects Nicola’s commitment to delivering high standards of patient care, learning, and leadership in community nursing. Unlike an honorary award, the Queen’s Nurse title signifies an ongoing commitment to excellence and professional development. Queen’s Nurses benefit from access to workshops, bursaries, networking opportunities, and a supportive professional community.

Dr Crystal Oldman CBE, chief executive of the QNI, said:

“On behalf of the QNI, I’d like to congratulate Nicola and welcome her as a Queen’s Nurse. Queen’s Nurses serve as leaders and role models in community nursing, delivering high-quality healthcare across the country. The rigorous application process demonstrates a commitment to improving care for patients, families, and carers. We look forward to working with Nicola and all the new Queen’s Nurses awarded this year.”

Bindu Kurien, lead nurse at the South Locality, LCO, added:

“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Nicola on achieving this remarkable title. She embraced the challenges of becoming a Queen’s Nurse, and this recognition is a testament to her dedication and passion for community care.”

The Queen’s Nurse title is open to registered nurses with over five years of community experience. The assessment process includes feedback from managers and patients. For more information about applying, visit the QNI website.

Congratulations Nicola on this well-deserved recognition!
