Chorlton and Whalley Range Public Meetings on Dementia – March 2023
Chorlton and Whalley Range Dementia Action Group are holding three public meetings about dementia, on Thursday 16 7:15 pm at Chorlton Central Church, on the junction of Barlow Moor Road and Sandy Lane. All are welcome and there will be refreshments provided.
These meetings should interest you if:
- You are living with dementia
- You are caring for someone with dementia
- You are working with people with dementia
- You wish to know more about dementia research, legal issues and service available
Session 1: The Health and Science of Dementia - Thursday 16 March 7:15pm
Dr Ross Dunne, Clinical Director of Greater Manchester Dementia Research Centre, will give an overview of the field of dementia research, the progress that has been made and the challenges still to overcome.
Session 2: Legal Issues - Thursday 23 March 7:15pm
Lauren Miller and Georgia Contos from Hugh Jones Solicitors will discuss the importance of future planning, including Lasting Powers of Attorney and Wills, together with other legal issues.
Session 3: Services for People with Dementia - Thursday 30 March 7:15pm
Sally Ferris, Together Dementia Support, Mike Petrou, Manchester Adult Social Care, and GM Mental Health Trust will give an overview of services for people with dementia and their carers, how to access them and the problems that can arise and discuss what else is needed.
