We specialise in children’s home tube feeding. Our aim is to help all the children we care for to meet their nutritional requirements whilst helping families to feel confident and safe with tube feeding.

We are a non-emergency service looking after any child with a feeding tube up to age 16 years old (or while attending a Special Needs School). Children under our care must be registered with a GP with a Manchester postcode. Our service is city wide, covering North, Central and South Manchester Community areas.

Exclusions may include children who require special dietary monitoring in relation to their diagnosis, for example oncology, ketogenic, renal, cystic fibrosis, diabetes, and some gastroenterology cases. These children remain under the care of the hospital dietitians

We thoroughly assess growth using weights, heights and other detailed measures of body composition. These details are used to calculate the child’s precise nutritional needs and we then design individualised feeding plans. We work together with families to ensure that the feeding plans we recommend are tailored to suit the child’s daily routine and any symptoms or tolerance issues that might otherwise complicate feeding. We carry out a full initial assessment and annual review, and children are reviewed regularly in between on an as-needed basis. Contact will be frequent initially, but once feeding is stable, follow-up tends to be every 3 – 6 months. We see children in their own homes, at school, and in outpatient clinics.

Children can be referred by another healthcare provider, either internally using MFT referrals or using our referral form.
