Citywide Adaptations Team

Citywide Adaptations Team

The Citywide Adaptations Team sits within Manchester’s Equipment and Adaptations Partnership (MEAP)

We help people who are struggling to remain independent at home. We provide equipment and adaptations for independent living.

We help Manchester residents of any age — from birth to end of life. We help people who are disabled, elderly or vulnerable.

We visit people in their homes to assess their needs.

We can provide:

  • Minor adaptations, such as half steps, lever taps or metal handrails.
  • A full service for major adaptations, including obtaining funding for provision.
  • A full design service while overseeing the building works. We do this for all owner occupiers and private tenants and can signpost to the teams who do the work for registered provider tenants.

At present we have significant delays once an adaptation has been approved as there is a huge pressure on the DFG Disabled Facilities Grant budget. We are currently looking at a minimum of 12-18 months before any major works would start from date of approval. We will however update if and when this timescale changes.

Referrals are made via the Contact Centre.

An assessment of the person will take place and adaptations are assessed on a sliding scale starting with equipment.
